Small Business Week Profile: Melissa Fink

5 Questions with: Melissa Fink, Girly Girlz

1.) What is your favorite part about running Girly Girlz?

I love seeing how excited and happy girls get when they come to Girly Girlz. There really is no other place like it in the Valley. It is so gratifying when moms and dads tell me how much fun their girly had during her trip to Girly Girlz, and how she can't stop talking about it.

2.) When did you get started in this business?

May 2016 - exactly three years ago!

3.) What is your favorite Jewish holiday and why?

Hanukkah. Each year, for the past 10 or so, we have put on a huge Hanukkah party at our house. We invite our Jewish and non-Jewish friends to come celebrate with traditional Jewish food, music, crafts, games, a DJ, and of course, bounce house! A couple of years ago my older son said the day of the Hanukkah party is his favorite day of the year - even more than his birthday - and it made me so happy that my husband and I are creating these special memories for our kids.

4.) How do you participate in Jewish life in Phoenix?

My Jewish involvement is more cultural than religious. Some of my best friends to this day are friends I made in my high school BBYO days. I/Girly Girlz is a corporate sponsor of Valley of the Sun JCC so I participate in a lot of events with them. My husband and I are looking for a synagogue to call home, especially as our kids are growing - we need to get them into Hebrew School!

5.) What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

You'll usually find me at Girly Girlz most weekends because it's when we are busiest. But when I do get to take a weekend day off, I like to go to breakfast with my family, take my kids somewhere fun, cook or bake, or just relax watching reality TV on my DVR.
